is a professor of agriculture engineering at the University of Khartoum and the University of Bakhtalruda. He has held numerous positions as high-level government official in Sudan, notably the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research 2004-2009; State Minister of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Forestry in the While Nile Governorate 2012-2014 and the Secretary-General of the Sudanese High Council for Environment and Natural Resources 2015-2017. By virtue of his academic qualifications and experience, Dr Shami is currently holding several vital positions, including membership in the National Scientific Committee of UNESCO, National Strategic Planning Council, University of Khartoum SENATE, High Education Committee for Private and Foreign Education, and the Managing Council of Sudan Forest National Corporation.

Dr Shami has strong and rich experience on agriculture engineering, education, scientific research and governance. He earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of New Castle, United Kingdom.
